The Freakin' Weekend.
Wow, what a weekend. Friday was full of metal and carnage for me, with a drive down to San Antonio for the Amon Amarth show with a bunch of bike riding friends. I gotta tell y'all, you people are just as cool off bikes as you are on 'em. My friends rule. Unfortunately, being out of town Friday night meant I missed the notice that there was an Alleycross race happening later that evening. Les was on that shit even though he was ALSO out of town for the MS150, and from the sound of things it was pretty well attended by the usual suspects who got to tear it up in some actual MUD! Also on Friday night was Maureen's innagural GRRRLZ Rule bike ride. It sounds like things went swimmingly, even though there was a bit of a mix-up as to whether the ride was cancelled or not due to rain. If any of you ladies want to get updates and info about future GRRRLZ Rule rides, drop Mo' a note and she'll get you all the info.
Saturday was a nice, chill day of recovery. After running errands and working on house stuff during the morning I got to get out in the afternoon and do some riding with some friends in this beautiful Austin spring weather. Talk about the perfect night! We rode all over downtown, hung out on the spiral hill, listened to some of the reggae fest (from outside the fence, hell with paying for what used to be a free show), and hung out at the capitol for a bit. All in all it was a nice, easygoing evening of riding around and hanging with the Frienly Fellers.
Sunday was more of the same, with cartoon watching in the morning and riding around afterwards. I didn't make it out to the organized bike events (Sexxy Sunday and Bike Polo, I'm looking at y'all) since I had to get some more stuff done around the house, but I still got to do some riding anyway. A bunch of us showed up late for Sloshball on our bikes, and then took the long way back to Boone's place to hang and do our thing until the sun went down. I also did some work on a new logo for ATXBS.com, and will be re-vamping the main theme of the page in the very immediate future. Don't worry folks, it'll still be the same simple, informative, bullshit-laden page you've come to know and love, it'll just include the color red (and be 100% my IP) now.
So how'd all the weekend bike events go? Les gave us a re-cap of the MS150 ride, and Mo' told us all about the GRRRLZ Rule ride and Sunday bike polo. How was the Sexxy Sunday race? How about the last minute 'cross race? Who won? If you got the beans, spill 'em.
P.S. There's A LOT of shit coming up in the next week including the Midnight Ridazz pub crawl, Critical Mass, all the usual Bike Polo and social ride goodness, and finally a whole load of art rides for Art Week Austin! Nice, I hope y'all have your bike legs ready. Happy 4:20.
