I am weak...

I DNF'd Brian's Alleycross race last night. To be honest, it was more like a DNS. The reasons seemed so obvious at the time: a shitty dimming headlight, 2 near misses with nature on the ride TO to starting line, a near braining due to an un-seen low hanging rock, aching legs, an upset stomach, all fine and proper excuses, but excuses nonetheless.

The real reason was this: I am weak. Brian's a sadist, y'all don't freaking know. The course was nearly the ENTIRE length of the Shoal Creek trail from around 38th St. down to the river, then down the hike and bike to the 1st st. bridge, across the bridge and on the hike and bike to the Lamar ped bridge, across that and a run down the stairs, back on the hike and bike to the mopac ped bridge, hike and bike again to the lamar ped bridge, then back up to the starting point to pick up an item. Then they got to do it AGAIN! There were two water crossings on the course, and another set of star runs on the way there and back. FYI the items were little baby figurines and tiny dragons. And squids, which were worth a 10 second deduction. Nice.

You people are animals, and I totally couldn't hang. The course was so rough that there were flats before the race even started. I read later that Eardie the cyclocross machine had 2 pinch flats during the race as well. DAMN! Talk about a brutal race.

If you're hardcore, you really owe it to yourself to check out Brian's Alleycross series. This Sunday's race is going to include BARRIERS for the first time, which should be a treat. If you like to hurt, that is.

The competition is effing huge! Just glad i didn't get last

... at least you don't look surprised when somebody gives you a beer, unlike some, and you don't turn down free beer, as others do ...

Racing must be serious bizness.

Those guys up front were hauling pretty serious ass. And with all their lights (four or so bikes in the front pack, some with lights on their helmets and handlebars), and their tires on the dirt trail, it sounded like an fast electric golf cart, and looked like a flying saucer headed our way ...

But a shit ton of fun! I think it was about 24 miles.... very sore today.

Brian's races are by far the most fun I have on my bike and the more people out there the more fun they are!
