CANCELLED: Sunset Valley Pedal Fest
05/09/2009 - 9:00am
05/09/2009 - 1:00pm
Cancelled due to "swine flu". I'm not joking.
This one's being brought to you by the Sunset Valley Arts Commission and the Austin Bike Zoo, and happens at the Toney Burger Center down in South Austin/Sunset Valley right next to the usual Sunset Valley Farmer's Market. The event is free for all ages, and they urge you to bring your bike so that you may participate in the following:
- Bike Rodeo
- Bike-Powered Smoothies
- Bike Decoration Station
- Bike Pannier Building Workshop (presented by YBP)
- Helmet Donations (presented by ACA)
- Wheels of Wonderland (presented by Austin Bike Zoo)
- Bike Zoo Puppet Rides
- Ultimate Mobile DJ (DJ Dojo)
- Solar Generator Bike Trailer (Sustainable Waves)
- Join the Mini Parade
- Booths from Local Bike Organizations
Sounds like a whole lot of excellence packed into 4 hours. Check it out if you're one of those south Austin types, or if you're down for a long bike ride...
The farmer's market was moved last weekend for the same reason. According to one of the vendors, AISD has all their satellite buildings - but not the schools - closed. How... sensible.
Might be fun to get a group together to ride on down to this, though it might mean we all get tired before the moon cruise....
It might look like more, but it's only 4.5 miles from the Pfluger bridge, for example.
Bummer though about it being cancelled. That's in my neck of the woods, it would have been nice to be able to go to something without making a big deal out of it.
