I just read the following story on The Blotter about a guy getting violent with his bicycle. WTF?
Man accused of tossing bike at people, evading UT police
By Isadora Vail | Thursday, May 7, 2009, 10:28 AM
When a man performing tricks with his bike Tuesday on the University of Texas campus didn’t land a trick, he took his anger out by throwing the bike and nearly several people, according to an arrest affidavit.
A witness called campus police about the bike rider, identified in the affidavit as 34-year-old Jordan Feiner, who was riding the bike on the south side of the Main Building.
Police arrived and wanted to question Feiner, but he fled on his bike, the affidavit says. It says Feiner rode faster each time the officer yelled for him to stop.
Another officer was able to arrest Feiner and he was charged with evading arrest, a state jail felony. Feiner was released after posting bail of $4,000.
Anybody know this cat? Someone needs to let him know that's no way to treat a bike.
Update: Speaking of shit going down on UT Campus, check out this incident I saw from last Monday in the Campus Watch newsletter:
300 BLOCK WEST 24th STREET
Criminal Trespass Warning (3 Counts) / Criminal Trespass: A UT police officer observed four non-UT subjects utilizing the West Mall fountain as a launching pad in order to perform bike tricks. When the subjects saw the officer approaching, they decided it was time to leave. During the investigation, the officer located all four subjects a few blocks away. As the investigation continued, the officer soon learned one of the subjects had been issued prior Criminal Trespass Warnings in other areas of campus for the same reason. The subject was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and was transported to Central Booking. The remaining three subjects were given Criminal Trespass Warnings and were escorted from the campus area. Occurred on: 5-04-09, at 8:48 PM.
What the fuck is up with all these criminal trespass warnings for trick riders? First the Sexxy Sunday crew gets kicked out of the Palmer Center on Sunday, now this? Anyone know who got arrested? If so let me know.
Are you seriously wondering why this is going down? These guys are pushing the rules and the patience of the people responsible for the properties in question. Maybe not at Palmer (yet), but UT has signs all over that state that riding (much less tricking) on the sidewalks is prohibited. So, you go out there and you are taking your chances. It's that simple!
It's the same with running lights and stop signs on your bike: you know what the law says, and you choose to break the law. Get caught, and it's no ones fault but your own.
If I come to your house and piss on the livingroom floor, should I not expect to be asked to leave? And if I get in your face and protest how I'm being treated, what should I expect from you and your friends?
Don't get me wrong: I jump the West Mall fountain all the time. I jump and wheelie all over that campus and this town, and have been since the mid-eighties. Have I once been given a criminal tresspass warning in over 20 years? No. Have I been run off? Once or twice. Still somehow those UT cops aren't out to get me.
It's the rules & you know 'em, so stop your stupid crying you bunch of babies!
...used to ride BMX, which is probably where he learned that stupid ass bike toss if you don't pull something shit. Nothing against Jordan really, I just hate that shit. The bike didn't not pull that shit, YOU didn't! How 'bout you throw yourself on some concrete? Maybe you'll think a little before you don't pull it the next time? hehe
Anyway - anyone that's ever ridden BMX or "urban" in Austin should know that UTPD hates hates hates bikes having fun anywhere on campus. Plan on being hassled *at least*, if not arrested outright. And keep in mind that campus cops are the lowest of low in terms of cop shithead mentality.
Stepping down from soap box...
