News about last night's City Council meeting
News 8 Austin's story hit around 7:59pm last night. The article mentioned the legal technicality that prevented the City Council from voting on the update, and also explains the uphill struggle we're going to be looking at to secure funding to actually put the new bike plan into practice.
Sarah Coppola of the Austin-American Statesman wrote about the event yesterday and again this morning. In her second article she mentions the YBP crew singing their song:
Many spoke to the council at a podium, but Pete Wall of the Yellow Bike Project had a more creative idea. He launched into “This Little Bike of Mine,” a song set to the tune of “This Little Light of Mine,” and a bunch of cyclists rose up in the audience to join him. It was the kind of moment that you’d only see at a City Council meeting in Austin.
I love this town. I'll update this post as more stories are released. Hopefully the one with all the shots of Les' scars airs soon.
P.S. Look in the comments section of the Statesman articles if you want to raise your blood pressure while lowering your opinion of humanity at the same time.
