Nadia Barrera just informed me that Capital Metro is updating their overall plan in an initiative called "Service Plan 2020". Click the link if you want to read the text of their announcement, but here is her request:

City of Austin Bicycle Stakeholders,

Please see the attached information regarding CapMetro's Service Plan 2020. This plan offers an opportunity for cyclists to demonstrate to CapMetro the importance of bicycle/transit planning. It is imperative that bicycle stakeholders be involved with this process. Your participation will let CapMetro know about the importance of

  1. Long and short term bicycle parking at bus stops (for when the bus racks are full and you are already running late!),

  2. The need for racks that hold 3 bikes rather than two,
  3. Assessing the bike/bus demand in general, and
  4. More/other issues that are important to you…

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns,

Thank you,

Nadia M. Barrera

I hate the 2-bike maximum on a lot of the more busy lines, and having a safe place to park when we exceed it would be super useful. If you ride the bus and use a bike, this is something you might want to follow. I'll try and keep everyone informed as the dates of the public hearings and open houses come up, so as to maximize the amount of cyclist input in these planning sessions.
