Fuck yeah, I just figured out how to make the Event Repeat module work. Means you're gonna see a lot less repetition and A LOT more insanity in the near future. Not having to post every instance of an event individually will mean that I won't accidentally forget to post one of the weekly or monthly rides/games/pub crawls/whatever in the future, and will also free me up for another project I've been brainstorming for a while but never started working on. More on this later but let me assure you, it's going to be even crazier and more ridiculous than ATXBS.

Speaking of new features, Ed snuck one in on me when the server crashed a few weeks back. If you'll look up to the top bar you'll notice a new tag: ATX CL Stolen Bikes. This is an aggregator for all the stolen bicycles currently listed on the local craigslist. If you ever want to be depressed or pissed at the state of bicycle theft in Austin just click that link and fume. On the topic of theft, I'm meeting someone this evening to discuss a few big cases of bike theft in town. If you're a YBP member or hang on the lower East Side then you probably know what I'm talking about. Should be interesting.

That's a great feature to add to this site Jason. I've gotta admit though, I've been having a pretty shitty day and reading some of that just now pissed me off even further seeing how many people are losing their bikes to thieves. Guess I'm still bitter about the theft of my Felt F90 road bike a few months ago :( Any other victims still find themselves constantly on the look out while they are riding around or passing bike racks? Thieves are some of the worst people in the world.

Oh believe me Jose I do the same thing ALLLLL the time over my BMX that was stolen a few months back. My chrome Dyno Air had several distinguishing marks and heaven help the person I see riding it, if I ever do.

This was posted on CL today:

"Someone has been stealing bikes left and right over here. Cheap U-locks getting twisted in half if the bike is 'desirable enough'."

What tools are these thieves using to twist off u-locks?! A while back I invested about $100 in a Kryptonite 'Fahgettaboudit' u-lock, it's kinda heavy but it seems secure to me. That's more money that I wanted to spend on a lock, but if you have a nice bike you should have a good lock too.

... jacks are the tool of choice for breaking U-locks, and they would result in a lock that looks like it was `twisted in half'. The best way to defend against them would be to use a jack that doesn't give them room to put it in -- a mini U-lock is probably the easiest way.
