I think Ken pretty much captured the essence of the Strawberry Full Moon Cruise last night in this photograph, taken while Paradise City by GnR was playing:

Besides that, the ride went a lot like this...

If you want to see the rest of his gallery (link fixed), they're on Facebook. Great stuff Ken!

There were a couple brutal accidents on the route, which was epic in its' own right. Doug was there which means there are over 270 pictures of the occasion, including the following moment-of-crash shot of Jordan:

Thankfully he didn't break his arm, despit it looking rather gnarly at the capitol. I brought my bike stereo to keep the ride rolling and it seemed like everyone really dug the tunes, even breaking out in song when "Don't Stop Believin'" blared over the speakers.

Another feature of the ride that I hadn't seen before, but am REALLY HOPING to see more of in the future was that we had a band there to see us off the bridge. Not just any band though, but a full-on marching band:

The rest of the ride was completely insane, and a whole lot of fun. If you missed it you're in luck because there's another ride tonight! I'll be there, and hope to see all y'all there too.

I just gotta leave my yeller bike hangin' and bring one what's got bigger tires and shit!! other than that it was all it was suppose to be and more!! late!

A bunch of us bailed once the "leader" decided to go the wrong way up Ben White. I'm all for rolling through a red light here and there...but, going the WRONG WAY up the HIGHWAY...at night...fuckin' lame. I couldn't believe the number of people (sheep) that actually followed. I am guessing they didn't make it that far, as a cop rolled up just a few minutes later. This was one of the few times in my life that I was glad to see a cop...I was really worried for their safety. I usually LOVE these rides...this one left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope July's ride is more like May's and nothing like June's (although, I did dig the GNR)...where did that guy go??? his route and stops were DA BOMB.

Yeah that was a tight spot. We were supposed to turn left onto Bannister and gone to 2nd Street rather than kept going and run into the highway. Quite the snag, indeed.

Otherwise I think the rest of the ride was a good time. Getting to the beer store before 1am was a necessity for a lot of riders (maybe better planning and grabbing beer beforehand?) but aside from that spacing out the stops would have been nice. Does someone with some route planning experience want to step up? Damon's out of commission for a while, and we need someone with initiative and intimate knowledge of Austin's less-traveled streets to take us some places we've never gone.

Who's it gonna be?

sorry

Worst ride ever!!! By 1:40, we had travelled less than 2 miles. I got tired of waiting for the riding to happen and split.

You missed out then. We covered over 18 miles all included:

... even if his figures are a bit off, as there was about 3.1 miles of riding before we got to the bike shop, and we left there at 1:45am. (We left the bridge at 12:40am.)

In the first hour after leaving the bridge, we spent maybe 40 minutes of that stopped -- 10 minutes at the gas station and 30 minutes at the bike shop.

I'm all for keeping the pace down for those who are struggling to keep up, and giving everybody a good chance to rest and socialize, but I'll bet there's a lot of room to get in quite a bit more good riding. Perhaps 30 miles total instead?

I thought it was a great ride, though it did start out a bit slowly. And I'm not quite sure what happened down on Ben White regarding going the wrong way. I'm not certain, but I think somebody went the wrong way down the sidewalk (perhaps not ideal, but not certain suicide) and then people followed them on the road ...

loved this ride, one of my favorites so far.
