Sunday Morning (Fixed Gear) RIDE!
I've been meaning to make it out to this ride but with 2 Full Moon Cruises back-to-back and all the regular daily riding my legs were jelly and I was blissfully asleep at 8:20am this last Sunday. If you also missed it don't worry, because they're doing it again this Sunday! Here are all the details:
I know some of you were racing last Saturday and I’m guessing that a whole lot of you were rollin’ with the Moonlight Ride on Saturday night. (Most of the Moonlighters were probably still makin’ whoopee when we rolled out on Sunday morning.) If your butt was in the saddle on Saturday, good for you. If it wasn’t, that means you were either too hung over or just too damn lazy to make the Sunday morning ride, and those are not excuses. (Alexandra’s no-show friend, I’m talking to you – you know who you are.)
What we lacked in numbers, we made up for in the quality of riders. The women kicked ass (Mimi and Alexandra), and we even had a little excitement when Danny and I mixed it up a bit (no injuries, no damage, and a few good laughs afterward).
Come on, y’all, give this a try. It’s waaaaaay better than getting all fucked up on Saturday night and feeling like shit all day Sunday. You might even find out that you like it.
This week’s ride will roll (as usual) from the Posse East at 8:20 on Sunday morning. (That’s June 14th, for those of you whose lives are complicated enough to require a calendar.) Rob has got a route out to the south that he likes, and we’ll build a ride of about 26 miles around that route.
Those of you who have ridden with us before know how we ride. For those who haven’t, please read the blah-blah below. It’s important. Really.
• A lot of us are down with the fixed gear deal, but mostly we’re just about riding. Bring whatcha got and ride with us.
• Every cyclist is responsible for his or her own safety and well-being. We assume that everyone is familiar with basic rules of cycling safety and has enough hours in the saddle to feel comfortable with his or her ride. Use of helmets is optional (but highly recommended). Use of headphones, earbuds, Blue Tooth headsets or any other form of electronic distraction is discouraged. All traffic laws and rules of right-of-way will be observed. Here’s the deal:
SAFETY FIRST!!!!!
If someone gets killed, it ruins the ride for everybody.
• This ride is about 26 miles long through mostly urban and suburban areas. There will be plenty of opportunities to refill liquids and obtain calories.
• There is no SAG support on this ride. Bring a spare tube and something that will inflate it.
• The purpose of this ride is for everyone to have a good time and, we hope, to become better cyclists. We ride at a social pace, and all skill levels are welcome. This is a 26-mile ride over predominantly flat terrain. (There are a couple of hills on the way back through South Austin. Sorry. That’s the lay of the land.) If this is consistent with your riding experience, or is perhaps slightly more challenging than what you’re accustomed to, you should have no problem going the distance.
Y’all get your butts on out and ride with us.
Hear that, butts? Get out and ride!
Does anybody know about what time this ride ended last Sunday? I have to be at work downtown at Noon, think I can be there on time? Thanks for any info.
Sucky... same day as pirate float day. perhaps I can make both.
