UPDATE: Urban Night Ride - This (and every) Thursday!
Coming up this Thursday we've got another of Brook's smashingly successful (and rather fun) Social Cycling ATX Urban Night Rides! Last month people braved storm, thunder and lightning to ride bikes, drink free beer, swim nekkid and do all the other things us local cyclists usually do when free alcohol and other sexy bikers are involved, so who knows what's gonna happen this week when the weather's gonna be nice. The crew meets on the Lamar Pedestrian Bridge at 7:30pm to watch the (ever later) sunset, then rolls out around 8-8:15ish for parts unknown. Make sure you bring your ID since bar stops happen, and if you're under 21 be prepared to hang out in alleyways and parking lots. Sorry guys, only a few more years...
P.S. Brooks is working out a deal with Lift Austin Beverage Cafe for drinks and such after the ride, so be sure to get in on the action.
UPDATE: So I just got the real deal from the right people. Here's what Keith has to say about the smoothies, the ride, the route, and the rest of it:
Here are the particulars for Thursday. Brooks has smoothie hookup action for those who want to meet a bit earlier before the ride. Contact him on the Social Cycling Facebook page for more details about this. We meet at the regular time 7:30-8:00 at the Pflueger Bridge. We are going on the east side route we had planned for last week: map, then the Jackalope is buying us some more beer after we ride.
This week, if there are tornadoes, I'm still leading a group of the willing on a ride. We can meet the smarter folks at the bar afterwards.
Remind your readers that they still have two more weeks of $1.00 Lone Stars at the Jackalope when they ride their bikes.
Thanks for setting me straight Keith! Smoothies before, beer after. What a plan!
I'll meet any one who is interested in getting a "Buy one get one free smoothie card" before the ride. Please let me know through the fb event page. Lift recently got its beer and wine license if you'd rather enjoy a cold one with out the police looming over us.
Thanks Jason for posts they have been a huge help!
