Ladies and gents of the early riser crowd, there's another "RIDE" coming up for you this Sunday morning. Though it's mainly a fixed gear event, anyone and everyone is encouraged to show up. The crew rolls from Posse East at 8:20am and they're serious about the start time so get there more like 8:10ish if you want to chat with some peeps beforehand. Here are all the details, as well as a recount of last week's RIDE:

ride

We had another excellent ride last Sunday. Rob’s route to the south went through places I didn’t know there were places. We took a little break at McKinney Falls Park and then headed back in via Emerald Forest and South 5th. Special recognition to Mimi. She has 20 gears, but she dialed up a 39-13 and rolled with it for the distance. You rock, Mimi!!!!!!

I don’t guess there’s much point in trying to preach any more to you Saturday night blotto/all day Sunday hangover people, but if you skip the Saturday night blotto and ride with us on Sunday morning, you’re gonna feel a whole lot better.

This week’s ride will roll (as usual) from the Posse East at 8:20 on Sunday morning. (That’s June 21st for those of you who need to make a note in your iPhone.) We’ll be riding out to just west of Manor and back in on a 26-miler.

Those of you who have ridden with us before know how we roll. For those who haven’t, please read the blah-blah below. It’s important. Really.

• A lot of us are down with the fixed gear deal, but mostly we’re just about riding. Bring whatcha got and ride with us.

• Every cyclist is responsible for his or her own safety and well-being. We assume that everyone is familiar with basic rules of cycling safety and has enough hours in the saddle to feel comfortable with his or her ride. Use of helmets is optional (but highly recommended). Use of headphones, earbuds, Blue Tooth headsets or any other form of electronic distraction is discouraged. All traffic laws and rules of right-of-way will be observed. Here’s the deal:

SAFETY FIRST!!!!!

If someone gets killed, it ruins the ride for everybody.

• This ride is about 26 miles long through mostly urban and suburban areas. There will be plenty of opportunities to refill liquids and obtain calories.

• There is no SAG support on this ride. Bring a spare tube and something that will inflate it.

• The purpose of this ride is for everyone to have a good time and (we hope) to become better cyclists. We ride at a social pace, and all skill levels are welcome. This is a 26-mile ride over flat to moderately-rolling terrain. If this is consistent with your riding experience, or is perhaps slightly more challenging than what you’re accustomed to, you should have no problem going the distance.

Come on, give it a try. Whaddaya got to lose?

Thanks for the head-up, Harry. Though I'm firmly in the "Saturday night blotto/all day Sunday hangover" camp, I'm really going to try and make it out there. Weekend mornings are one of my favorite times to ride. The streets are chill, the air is still relatively cool (even on the HOT days), and typically you've got a fresh set of legs under you, ready for serious riding. I love that shit.
