Wow, what a ride. Not 3 miles into it the cops already interfered and pulled over a rider. There weren't any arrests but the rider that got pulled over was ticketed for "obstructing traffic". Later into the ride another group was pulled over and a rider was arrested. The police were extremely hostile to the point of pulling and brandishing their nightclubs when they ordered us to the curb. The rider and his bicycle were taken away from the scene and from thereon the ride was left alone. I'm tired and have had my share of the evil liquor, so I'll update this once I'm more of sound mind and better informed by eye witnesses. Keep posted, y'all. That was a crazy ride. If anyone has pictures, statements, badge number, video, or anything else pertaining to this last Critical Mass ride, HOLLA!
Friday's ride was my first , & it was absolutely amazing! I had heard about Critical Mass before, but never managed to get myself over. Luckily, this time my friend Sammy called right before & told me to go.
Anyway, I was so stricken by the operation of the event that I've decided to write my final Social Movements paper on Critical Mass. Better get back to work bc the 7 pager is due tomorrow..
You guys rock! See you in 3 months when I get back into Austin.. =)

Yeah, that ride was a blast despite the couple cop altercations. I didn't see it but I guess they tackled the kid that got arrested, that's freaking crazy!
kid was asked to stop. he didn't. cop grabbed his frame and got his foot caught in the kid's rear wheel, both went tumbling down.
i wrote down the cop's license plate and prowler number, i'll post it later after i finish touching up my pictures from yesterday. the cop stuff didn't turn out so well, but the portraits were awesome.
