Rapha/Mellow Johnny's Breaking Away Race

I haven't seen a flyer for this yet but the description of the event sounds BADASS! I know most of y'all have seen Breaking Away, so you know what the Little 500 is, right? Well check out what Rapha and Mellow Johnny's is putting on in a couple weeks...

Instead of bringing back the roller races Rapha, Mellow Johnny's, and Alamo Drafthouse have partnered this year for an OUTDOOR race. The event will mark the 30th Anniversary of the movie Breaking Away. We'll stage a version of the Little 500 on the Kealing Middle School Track were 10 teams (4 members per team) will race. Racers will all have the same bike, Bianchi Pista's that we'll offer up for sale after the event at a reduced price.

After the event we'll head back to Mellow Johnny's for the awards ceremony and after party. We will have a screening of the movie as well, along with adult refreshments. At this point the teams involved are being contacted by Rapha and they are working off the list of participants from last years Rapha roller Races at Mellow Johnny's.

There will be more details TBA but we want to get the word out. Attendance is free. The event starts at 6:30 pm July 12 at Kealing Middle School, after the race we'll head back over to MJ's for awards ceremony, after party, and movie showing.

Have I mentioned that I love you guys?!? Seriously, I went into the shop for the first time expecting the worst, but MJ's has exceeded my expectations at every turn. Their entire staff tirelessly support the community with free classes, events, swap meets, rides, friday coffee and a plethora of other services for the downtown commuter population.
