"Bike Month" Political Pedal - Tell those guys what you REALLY think of them!
Spring has sprung, temperatures are rising, and like the other indicators the beginning of May heralds a time in the lives of Austin politicians and civic leaders where they talk about how much they love bikes and biking and bike friendliness for about a month and then drop the subject for the next 11...
They do this one every year. I guess it's an opportunity to hang out with all the local bicycling politicians who want to hobnob with the riffraff. The ride is free, it doesn't look like there are any rules or anything, and there's gonna be REAL LIVE POLITICIANS on the cruise. Who knows, this could be kinda fun. If nothing else you'll get to bend a local politicos ear for a few seconds until they realize how weird the average Austinite biker is...
The group meets up at 5pm at City Hall Plaza (301 W. Second Street). It'll wind its way around town lake and the surrounding area, then it heads to Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant (301 San Jacinto Blvd.) for happy hour from 6-7:30. There's gonna be a BICYCLE VALET at the restaurant, so I guess we'll get to experience how the other half rides in the process. ;)
