Ride of Silence - Memorial Ride for Deceased Cyclists
Saw this in an article on Austin360 and wanted to pass it on to all of y'all:
The Ride of Silence, a group bike ride to honor bicyclists who have been killed while cycling, starts from the Pfluger Bridge at 7 p.m. May 21. The ride, now held across the country, started in 2003 at White Rock Lake in Dallas, where it drew 1,000 cyclists in its first year. There is no fee, no registration and no T-shirt for the 8-mile ride. For more information, go to http://www.rideofsilence.org.
It always reminds me of my own mortality whenever I bike by one of the several ghost bikes around town. While I don't know anyone who's been killed while bicycling, I have many friends who have been seriously injured and have had their lives jeopardized by the carelessness of others. Whoever is putting this on, thanks.
