ATXBPSC Presents: Thursday Night Bike Polo at Eastwoods Park
06/25/2009 - 5:30pm
The Austin Texas Bike Polo Social Club host regular games of Bike Polo at Eastwoods Park every Thursday night starting at 5:30pm. Just look for the sweaty bikers near the tennis courts.
All you need to bring with you is your bike and a sporting attitude, all the rest will be provided. BYOB is also welcome, and if you bring some to share you'll make a lot of new friends. The local club lists the rules of the game on their website, but they're easily explained on-site if you lack the ability to read.
If you like playing polo and keep having to use someone else's bike to play, why not support the YBP, or any pawn shop around town, or hit up Frankenbike and get parts to build up a polo bike. Dumpsters are also nice to look in from time to time... some people don't value bikes like we do and throw them away. No need to buy expensive parts, just get something that will work and a bike you don't mind beating up a bit. If anyone needs help there is enough expertise in our group to solve any problem, or at least jimmy-rig it.
Once the bike is built, wheel-covers and the such can be added later, and then a mallet, and you're a true polo player... easy as pie.
