Wednesday Urban Assault Ride - 1 YEAR!
There's another regular social ride that's been going on for about a year now, called the Wednesday urban Assault Ride, or WAR for short. They meet every other Wednesday night for dinner and a pub crawl. Here's what they have to say about their modus operandi:
The Austin WAR - Wednesday urban Assault Ride - is a combination bike ride and pub crawl. Rides are not fast (12mph) and not long (10mi). We ride every other Wednesday evening, usually meeting for a quick dinner at about 6pm and visiting 3-4 bars between 7 and 11pm. Each ride has a theme, and accompanying music. Come on out and assault Austin on your two wheeler.
Their next ride is schedule for July 1st, which just so happens to be their one-year anniversary! The theme is "Best of WAR", so they're probably going to visit a few of the groups favorite bars, and the stereo bike will play a few favorite tunes. Since I've never been before I don't know what these favorites are, but I'm itching to find out! The start time is 6:15pm (I'm assuming) and the start location has yet to be determined, but keep an eye on their blog (or here) for more information. I'm going to try to make it out on the 1st and see how these cats party.
Last night was my first time to ride with this group. We meet at Wahoo’s and peddled around on our way to 3 different bars. A quick dip in Lake Austin was what I needed to make the ride even better. I think there is a regular group of 12 or so, and their all know each other very well. This is a close-knit group and they openly welcomed me. I am honored to have met and ridden around town with this killer group of folks.

I was at the cop meeting but I definitely plan to ride with these cats in the future. I've met a couple of them now and they all seem like a friendly, though rough and tumble bunch. My kinda people.
Never heard of this group but would love to check 'em out. I'll be there!
