Thursday Night Social Ride - Short but oh, so sweet...
Last night's ride was a whole lot of fun. Though the route was short (after last weeks' sweat-fest people needed it) and only had one stop before the bar, but what a stop it was! We ended up at the Metz Park basketball courts and took advantage of them for a couple slow races, a few games of Texas Footdown (thanks for the prizes!), and a good bit of beer drinking. The two cargo bikes that came along for the ride both put themselves to great use as beer haulers, and kept the crew partying until we got to the final stop of the ride, which ended us up at the Scoot Inn. When we got there we were greeted by a country band and TWO FREE KEGS! (P.S. people TIP WELL so they'll have us back) The band loved the crowd and they weren't too bad, so that was a pretty badass random occasion. After the kegs ran out we split (I had to wake up EARLY) but a lot of people stayed around and kept partying. Doug was on the scene to photograph the evening, so take the time to peruse his gallery and see what all went down...
A decent sized crew, as usual.
Shortly before we left these guys showed up to chill and keep an eye on things. This is becoming a more common occurrence, so be careful with those cans and pipes.
SLOW RACE!!!
The night wasn't entirely without mishap, as several of the riders on the way to the bridge were delayed by the bald head of the law.
LADIES, LADIES, LADIES!
Social Cycling ATX rolls DEEP!
Altogether, the evening seemed real chill. Good times, ya'll! I'll see everybody out at Critical Mass in about 7 hours...
