Capital Area Bicycle and Pedestrian Summit
Usually I'm mainly concerned with my interactions with drivers, but as I dodge walkers too I can see how this type of summit has its place. CAMPO is hosting the event to kick off Bike Month this year. The event includes talks about Yellow Bike Project, the Street Smarts Taskforce, recent research findings regarding on-street bicycle facilities, and even a free lunch! Of course there's much more, but don't take it from me, read their fancy, full color flyer for the full scoop! Though you don't HAVE to register, they're limiting attendance to 350 people and are only letting in non-registered people after 9pm. Sign up here to guarantee a seat (and a free lunch). The whole shindig goes down at the UT Jester Center (Speedway and 21st St).
Afterwards there's going to be a short ride. They say helmets strongly recommended but it doesn't look like a requirement so hopefully they won't kick anyone out if they don't have one. The ride cruises over to Crown and Anchor and there'll be 20 yellow bikes available for people who happen to walk to the event, so you don't have any excuse not to go.
