Monday Heavy Metal Fitness Ride - this one meets up with the ladies!
Keith just sent me the latest word on this Monday's Heavy Metal Fitness Ride, including a special tip for all y'all singles out there:
The Heavy Metal Fitness Ride is taking place again this Monday, July 13. Our maiden voyage last week was a good start with around 40 riders. I've reason to believe we'll be adding a few more to that number this time around.
Last week, you Metalheads handled my route without too much trouble, so this week we are going to ratchet things up a little bit. I've added four extra miles before our break for beer and smokes at the Bluebonnet Store. Since we are stopping at a few red lights, we're nixing the water break from last week. Just drink at the signals.
Heads Up! We'll be leaving a bit earlier to accommodate the longer route and still soak up a full hour of cold spring water cool down. So this week we meet at the bridge at 7pm and LEAVE AT 7:30 PM SHARP.
The Rundown: Meet at the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge on Monday at 7pm. We’ll leave the bridge at 7:30pm sharp!. Don’t be late as there’s no catching us once we leave. (Yes, that’s a challenge). Expect a reasonably fast pace, covering 23.3 miles on an urban route. Next, we’ll hit Barton Springs for some cold water goodness. Once we’re nice and chilly, it’s to the Jackalope, always generous to the two-wheeled kind. Once we get there, expect free beer, heavy metal madness, half-priced pizza and happy hour ($2.00 wells) all damn night.
This is not a your normal road ride. This is a fast paced urban ride for all types of bikes. Single-speed, fixed-geared, multi-geared, bmx, road bikes and mountain bikes and all other kinds of bikes are welcome. You will be riding with friends, not your mother, so bring all of your gear. YOU NEED TO HAVE WATER, tools to change a tire, a tube or patch kit and a pump. The pace will be pretty fast. If you can’t keep up, that’s cool, just drop off and meet us for swimming and drinks later.
The Heavy Metal Fitness Ride is for cyclists that enjoy riding in a diverse group and like a little pain, followed by a little pleasure in the form of chilly spring water, free beer and heavy metal music. If it inspires you to go further and really find out something about fitness and go ride the Decker Lake Loop, carry on.

Like I said Keith has something special for everybody:
I have been contacted by someone in the Monday night ladies ride out of Mellow Johnny's. I think we will be having them meet us for swimming and beer after our rides are over.
Riding hard, swimming, free beer and bike riding ladies... what's not to love?
Keith, you know how to organize 'em.
