Keith sent out all the deets yesterday but as I got to spend fun fun times in the ER all last night I'm running about a day late in processing my email. Sorry about that folks. Enough yammering, on to the actual info...

Thursday Night Social Ride

It’s still hot in the city, Social Riders. I’ll have to say that I considered some games in the park for this week’s ride. But with temperatures still hanging in the triple digits, the chilly spring waters of Barton Springs sound like the best alternative for you and me.

So here’s how this week’s ride will go down. Same meeting time (about to change next week, see note at bottom). Meet at the Lamar Blvd Pedestrian Bridge at 7:45. Hang out, check out everyone’s cool bikes, talk with people you know and get to know people you don’t. We’ll leave sometime after 8. We’ll ride around town, socialize and even exercise a bit. After we are good and ready, we will head to Barton Springs for free swim. This week, I’m leaving it up to you guys if we are doing our now traditional Belly Flop contest. If there are enough interested participants, we’ll do it. If not, enjoy your free swim! I’ll be carrying around some prizes from Ozone Bike Department to hand out just in case. Last week the competition was so weak, that a little girl (4 yr old, i’m not making this up) won. Just sayin’.

After we have had enough of some clear cold spring water, we head East, for a nice cruise around the Holly Street neighborhood, ending at East Austin’s newest bar, The Liberty for the weekly free beering of our riders. After the kegs are gone, cheap beer will be available to those who are still thirsty. Thanks ya’ll! I understand there is bocce ball court and a washers set up out back as well as some nice pinball action inside.

A note about the ride. We are getting HUGE so I want to point out a couple of things that will make the ride go smoothly. Stay in one lane. It’s usually the right lane, unless the route has a left turn, then you will hear shouted instructions to switch. We want to let cars pass us up. We aren’t riding to jam up traffic. Second, we will try our hardest to stop at stop lights, only making exceptions for rider safety.

What you will need:

Water : July, Texas… you get the point

Lock : for locking

Lights : for lighting Swim Suit : please

A valid ID stating you are 21 if you want to join us at The Liberty

***SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT FUTURE RIDES: The sun is going down earlier, so we can start riding a bit earlier as well. Starting next week, the start times will be moved up. We will start meeting at 7:30 on the bridge and leave by 8 SHARP.

The route will be mostly flat, with a couple of hills. From bridge to bar, we are riding a little over 10 miles, but we are stopping at the springs sometime along the route so riders of all levels should not have a problem

Facebook here.

Y'all got beat by a 4-year old? What, was Quincey sick or something? Free beer, boccee, belly flopping, sounds like a good time. Keith has a few good points to make about the ride, and I have a point I want to remind y'all of about the beer: Free beer doesn't cost you nothing, because it doesn't come with free bartenders. Make sure you tip the people working hard behind the bar. If you don't tip, you're an asshole. I'm doped up on pain pills and have antibiotics coursing through my veins, so expect to see me on this week's ride come hell or high water...

maybe switch it up... make it a back-flop comp?

What kinda shennanigans led you to the ER?

Just check out this style! (at least I think that was her.)

Oh wow that's awesome. I'm so bummed I missed this.

She definitely got the biggest crowd response.... Not to discount the other competitors...

...all i got was a polite clapping for this

bring it this week, ya'll!
