One of the organizers of the Austin-leg of the 42Below Gold Sprints just sent me an updated schedule of their upcoming events. They're running one tonight down in San Antonio but tomorrow they're back on home turf:

Wednesday 7/29 - Beso Cantina - 10:00pm
Thursday 7/30 - Cuba Libre - 6:30pm

Friday 8/7 - Shiner's Saloon - 9:00pm
Saturday 8/8 - Scoot Inn - Bicycle Film Festival!

Wednesday 8/12 - Cedar Street Courtyard - 9:00pm
Thursday 8/13 - Cuba Libre - 6:30pm

What is a 42Below Gold Sprint, you may ask? Take a gander:

That's right, two track bikes on rollers, side-by-side for 250 meters of pain and agony, charted on a computer and blown up on the wall so that you may bask in glory or shame, depending on if you come out on top or not. And all you gotta do is show up and compete. There's a waiver you need to sign because they don't want to get sued, but if you hit the high score for the series you win a FREE track bike. Elliott from A2W made it out to their event last night and posted a write-up if you want to see what you're getting yourself into, but I've already been out to try it and let me tell you it's a BLAST.

As to the personal challenge, it looks like Brian Davies just issued this challenge to all comers on the last day of the Gold Sprints. If you're a biker and think you can take the track bike from all the pretenders, show up on the last day and school the rest of us...
