WHAT A GREAT FUCKING DAY!!! I don't know what's in the air today, but I'm in a really upbeat mood. I've had a good time so far at work, I'm getting to shut down the massive monolith of a file server that has been the bane of my existence since pretty much day 1 here, and by taking off in the opposite direction as usual I had an AMAZING lunchtime MTB ride.
Typically I head south east from here, but instead I pointed my 1x1 in the opposite direction and explored some new trails. WOAH! Talk about a difference in terrain! Lots of ups and downs, ledges to jump off of, and a bunch of new areas to get lost or hurt myself in. I made it through the big valley in the middle of that green area and up the other side, exiting on Southwest Parkway somewhere slightly west of Mirador Dr. I actually had to lower my gearing to make it up the some of the north-side climbs, which was a nice change from the easier ups and downs of the more eastern trails. I spent a little over an hour in total riding out and back, plus exploring some of the side trails to see what else the new area may have in store for me. Exploration by bike is fucking tops! I guess I rolled over something sharp, because within 30 minutes of being back at my desk I noticed that I had a flat rear tire. Glad it waited until know to deflate.
Does anybody know who maintains these trails? I noticed several cut trees along the path that were obviously done to clear the way, and I wanted to make sure I wasn't stepping on anyone's toes.
That's all, back to work. Just wanted to brag about my awesome day so far.
Update: Back tube went flat again. I've patched it 3 times in as many days, guess it's time to call it quits and replace it. Damn.
man. what a pain in the ass. I've still got that patch kit, though I already had to loan it out once on a sunday.
I'm pretty sure those trails were cut a long time ago by the Motorola lunchtime crowd. (Did you find the little family graveyard near the Motorola cinder track?) Last time I was on them, it was a lot less developed over there. Used to be a bunch of gypsy trails on the north side of SW Pkway before that gated community, where your CEO lives, popped up and took them over as private trails. Let's trespass y'all.

I would say the same, but I had to bust out my A.K. It's really too bad.
