August Full Moon Cruise - Sturgeon? Really???
It's that time again folks. The wildest, wackiest after-dark bike ride in town: THE FULL MOON CRUISE! This month's full moon is the "Sturgeon moon", according to a lot of people who died a long time ago:
Full Sturgeon Moon - August The fishing tribes are given credit for the naming of this Moon, since sturgeon, a large fish of the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water, were most readily caught during this month. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because, as the Moon rises, it appears reddish through any sultry haze. It was also called the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon.
Thankfully we aren't stuck with the "fish" theme, because it was also called the "Full Red Moon", the "Green Corn Moon" and the "Grain Moon". Go crazy with that.
11:59pm on the Lamar Ped Bridge, Wednesday evening (5th) is the place and time to be there. There's a big Bike Film Fest kickoff party going on in the neighborhood starting a few hours earlier, so why not check it out beforehand? I have NO IDEA where this ride is headed, who's leading it, or what's going to happen, so show up and find out when I do. See y'all next week!
