Update: Keith just sent me the full details on this week's Thursday Night Social Ride. Turns out we ARE going to the art show before continuing on to Shangri-la for the traditional free cheap beer. Keith wanted to mention a few things about the fine people who serve you week after week, so read on to get the full info:

It’s a great week in the Austin cycling community, Social Cyclists. The Bicycle Film Festival is in town and there are some really cool events going on and we’re going to be part of it all.

The Thursday Night Social Ride gets artsy this week. We are attending the opening of the Joyride Art Show at east side art space, the Co Lab. This exhibit is part of the BFF so it will only be up for a limited time. Come and check it out with us. There is some really cool bicycle art that should not be missed.

After we are through getting our art on, we are taking a nice cruise through the east side and ending up at Shangri-la where they are buying all of us a couple of kegs of beer and once again giving all of us cyclist some mighty fine hospitality.

Speaking of hospitality, there has been some online talk about the bartenders that serve us every week. I would like to add to that conversation. Not only are the bartenders at our weekly stops hardworking folks, they are also giving up major love for the Social Cycling ATX crew and actually convincing their bosses to buy us beer. Namely, my buddy Matt, a bartender at Shangri-La has been personally responsible for a several free kegs for you guys. Thanks Matt! If you guys see Matt out on Thursday, make sure you thank him… maybe even buy the guy a delicious shot of Jameson. He’s one of many great members of this community that is making this awesome weekly event so cool.

That all being said, we meet at the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge at 7:30 pm on Thursday. We are leaving at 8pm SHARP so we can get some good riding in.

Be sure and bring:

Lock, Lights and Valid ID stating that you are 21 years old if you want to have some drinks with us at Shangri-La.

See you at the bridge!

Facebook here.

I also want to thank all the bartenders who labor tirelessly to serve up the free booze and drink deals. Being invaded by 200 sweaty, thirsty cyclists all at once can't be easy, but these guys make it look like they do that shit every day. Show some love in the form of 1s and 5s, please. They work hard for the money so you better treat 'em right, that is if you want the free beer to keep flowing...

Not a lot of info yet on what to expect, but the Facebook event page for the Thursday Night Social Ride just got posted. The main thing to note is that since the days are slowly getting shorter, the ride is going to leave earlier. This week it meets at 7:30pm and leaves promptly(ish) at 8. The Lamar Pedestrian Bridge is the place to be, and a bike and LOTS of tasty beverages (gotta stay hydrated) is what to bring. If you went even further and brought a patch kit, spare tube and a pump you'd be extra cool. I'll post more details as I get them, but the rumor is this one's going to be riding to an art show! You may read it elsewhere later (when it's fact), but you heard it here first.
