Full Moon Cruise words, rumors, and things to think about.

I got the following email from one of the old-timer bikers that still occasionally shows up for the big rides around town, with some tantalizing rumors about October's full moon cruise. Since September's ride is the big Annual Moonlight Cruze (27th year), all the usual rules and routes go out the window, but come October it looks like we're gonna get a taste of the old rides again:

Am I good or what? didnt I tell ya months ago the annual cruise was on the 6th? yep I'm good. just an FYI but it appears we have a born and raised 5th generation Austinite, former high school classmate of Mr. Damon who is going to lead the full moon cruise on October 4th. Rumor has it the October cruise isnt going to be for wussies. There will be no stopping at lights and the pace will probably be quicker then the last few cruises wich personally I found to be completely boring and left shortly after starting. As an added bonus there has been some talk of trying to reunite the old moon that used to lead the crowd back with the cruise. If the moon can be resurected and fashioned to the new leaders bike then we might just have a big glowing ball in the sky to follow again. Should be interesting. might want to let people know to shave those legs throw on there tightest spandex and dont forget the ass butter cause this ride will probably be a little more viscous then the last couple of pussy rides. The new leader hadnt been on a full moon cruise in a while and she was appauled at the fact that stereo Bob was not at the back of the pack on the last ride. Stereo Bob kicks ass but we all know he is supposed to be bringing up the rear.

There you have it folks. I know a lot of people have enjoyed the slower, more together Full Moon Cruises of late, but others have also been missing the days of yore, where we had a big glowing ball to follow and if you didn't keep up you got left in the dust. I personally like both styles, but really these rides are what the riders make it, so if you don't like what's going on make your voice heard and see what happens! No matter what, I'm looking forward to a good time September 6th, and again in October on the monthly Full Moon Cruise.

Hey! Let's keep it inclusive, not exclusive. If I crave pain and want to feel inadequate in lycra shorts, I'll show up at Monday's Heavy Metal Fitness ride (again).

Stepping up the pace a notch or two is cool, but "viscous" at 3:00 am doesn't sound like fun to me and neither are a bunch of unscheduled stops for EMS responders.

The x-rated music bike can be a useful annoyance.

If lead group gets so far ahead that music can't be heard and we're not heading up a long steep hill then the pace is too fast. If we're heading downhill, give it up, nobody is gonna be faster than me. Conversely, if ya can't keep up with a geezer riding an eighty-pound bike on level earth, well, you know why I'm a baddass.

That's kinda how I feel about it too, but I'll hang with a fast ride if it turns out that way. Typically I'm on a BMX, tall bike, or hauling a stereo, so I don't want to be hauling ass all night long.

Justin's been complaining about the way Critical Mass and the Full Moon Cruise have changed for a while now. They definitely have changed over the past few years, in size, regularity, leadership, routes, and many other ways. I don't think change is BAD, but there's definitely some people who want to take it back to its' roots, whenever they believe those were.

I don't care how it goes or who runs it, I'll be on the ride no matter what.
