Brian just sent out the following message regarding his Giro de Ghetto multi-stage race of awesome:

Hey folks.

Yeah, yeah, I'm late. Nothing new there. I have finally decided on the Giro dates. They are as follows:

Sept 27- Oct 4

VERY tentatively, here's what each night will be (it's also attached as an excel spreadsheet for you nerdy types):

Sunday, Sept 27: Individual Time Trial "Mountain".
Monday, Sept 28: Cross
Tuesday, Sept 29: Rest Day
Wednesday, Sept 30: Alleycat
Thursday, Oct 1: Drag racing
Friday, Oct 2: Rest Day
Saturday, Oct 3: Long Miles
Sunday, Oct 4: Individual Time Trial "Flat"

To answer your questions:

First and foremost - this is not like any other race that happens around here. If you are not into alleycat racing, come the other nights. Same thing with cross, long miles, whatever. You can race one night or all nights, but the only way to win the whole thing is get the most points. I have toyed with the idea of having prizes/money every night, but I'd rather reward the warriors. This is open to every kind of bike rider out there. Just understand that the recommended bike (on the attachment) will be most likely to bring you the win. Alright, now for what I expect to be the natural questions...

1) No, the "mountain" stage is not on mountain bikes. It is mountains like Alp D' Huez. See attached file for optimal bike recommendations.
2) Yes, there is a real, live cyclocross stage. I will go easy enough on you so you don't HAVE to have an actual cross bike. I promise you, you can do it on any bike you own.
3) Drag racing is just what it sounds like. And you never know what kind of bike or person will win. Great night for spectating too!
4) The flat time trial will have hills. It's still Austin.
5) The price is undecided yet, as are the points for each night.
6) I do, indeed, need volunteers. At least one or two that own a car would be great.
7) If you are on this list, you are capable of racing in this race. There will be 3 categories, like always:
- Fast
- Grrls
- Sloner (slow x stoner = party time class!). You don't HAVE to be a stoner or even all that slow to race in this class, it's just the more fun time class.

Ok, commence with asking all the wacky shit you wacky people like to ask that I never would have thought of on my own. Oh, and get to training! It's less than a month away!

See you soon!

Holy shit, that's 3 weeks away. Time to start getting AMPED!

Technically, I think, from the description, this wouldn't be considered a stage race, since a participant isn't required to finish every stage. I think this would be an omnium. HTH! ;-)
