Yellow Bike Project fans, be prepared to FREAK THE FUCK OUT!

Jennifer Schaffer from YBP just emailed me with some of the GREATEST news I've read in a long while. Rather than paraphrase what they've had to say, I'll just quote directly from their website:

We did it ! - The lease is signed, the construction contract is signed, we have an approved site plan and between our cash and microloan pledges we have have the money we need to pay the construction contract. We still want to raise another 10k through the microloan program for contingencies but we are on the home stretch. No joke. And you know what else? We're breaking ground next week.

NEXT. FREAKING. WEEK. Yes!!! Can you tell I'm excited about this? They have dated contracts signed, the money raised, and the plan is to be open by January 2010. Want more information? Read it on the Webberville Update page. They're still looking for $10k in microloans as a contingency fund, but otherwise the project is officially funded and underway. As an all-volunteer shop, they're looking for anyone in the construction industry that would be willing to lend their professional expertise (sign up here), donations of building materials (sign up here), and even if you're not a pro you can still sign up for other projects associated with raising the new YBP Webberville HQ!
