That's right ladies and gents, THIS Friday is that ride of rides, the one that started them all: CRITICAL MASS! Show up on the UT West Mall at 5pm for good times, great people, and hopefully a really chill, cop-free cruise around Austin, TX.

I'm looking forward to some excellent riding weather now that the temperatures have permanently dipped below the 100s, and if the size of the other big group rides are any indication, I expect several hundred people to show up for this one.

I have a suggestion for this ride, take it or leave it. IF we decide to ride on Congress this time around, let's stop for the lights, stick to the right lane, and legally jam the whole place up. The police have been violently harassing us for riding through the area lately, and as it's apparent that their tactics aren't going to change, maybe it's time for us to mix it up a bit. Ideally I'd like to see Critical Mass avoid Congress entirely, and explore some new parts of the city we haven't been to in a while, but the ride is what it is, and where we go is up to the whims of the mass.

P.S. I'm broke as hell and haven't really had the free time to do any planning for a party or anything, but this months' Ride is the official 2-year Anniversary of ATXBS.com! That's right folks, this mess was conceived over a keg of cheap beer in the Lobo's back parking lot 2 years ago, and thanks to all of y'all has been going strong ever since. With a little luck and y'alls help keeping me in the know for all the latest bike goings-on, I hope to enjoy many more years of talking shit and raising hell on the internets...

P.P.S. Though I haven't planned anything, I HAVE heard rumors of another after-ride party in the works including kegs, musical accompaniment, and lots of the other usual goodness that makes an ATX bike party what it is. Hopefully this party comes together, as I've really been enjoying chilling with all my bike riding friends and freaks after the sun goes down. If you're the one planning this shindig, let me know.

Update: And here's the party flyer. Thanks Jonathan!

I'm serious, y'all are too freaking badass...

Fuck Mang! If Ida known dat dis week was duh 2nd birfday of Critical Mass, I know a killer rock band I prolly coulda got tuh play for duh birfday party. But 4 days is such short notice. .Too Short. An ah aint been tuh one yet anyways, dis one will be muh furs. Maybe some time in duh future I kin get "um" tuh play jus 4 duh hell of it at duh bresh. Last Thursday I got my Social Ride Cherry Popped. And I FUKIN LOVED IT! See You Dudes and Babes at duh Critical Mass Ride Mang!

Critical Mass is what, 17 years old? (The idea is older, of course.) Old enough to drive, how's that for irony? :)

Atxbs is two years old.

lose weight now, just ask me...you pedal, i ride in my bike trailer..$50.00 ha! theme?

With the awesome weather and the back-to-school kiddos, this one is gonna be huge! I'll see you guys out there, and I can offer help if it's needed in wrangling folks down Congress. Who leads the ride these days?

Nobody leads them by design. Critical Mass has been leaderless and organizationless since its' inception, and I think it should stay that way. Need more structure? That's what the Thursday rides are for.

Oh neat, didn't realize it had always been that way.
