Check it out folks, here's the plan for tonight's Social Ride. I know the weather looks somewhat cold and dreary, but that just means that you're not going to be sweating your ass off while you're riding around, right? This week Keith is taking advantage of the rain possibility and is setting up a SLIP AND SLIDE at Metz. Read on for more:

Hey there everyone. It looks like Fall is upon us. With the cooler tempatures, we are probably saying goodbye to the night time free swim at Barton Springs until next year. But that doesn't mean we can't still have some good, wet biking fun.

Here's the basics:

We meet at 7:30 at the Pfluger pedestrian bridge. You will need to bring lights, a lock, some water and an ID(if you plan to attend the after party).

This week we are headed to our hangout at Metz for the usual bike games like the slow race and footdown PLUS a slip-n-slide for those who aren't wet enough from riding around. Bring a swimsuit... or not... it's up to you. I'm thinking that adding some food coloring to the soap and water would be fun, so don't wear that way rad Affliction Wear t-shirt that you were going to show off.

From there we are heading to Cheer up Charlies, one of east 6th streets newest watering holes. They are buying a keg of beer for us and will have some great grilled vegan fare like zucchini/portabela tacos, hummus sandwiches and a whole bunch of other stuff for sale if ya'll are hungry. Then it's off to the Creekside Lounge for some free/cheap beer action and a DJ dance party.

Want to see what we did last week? Check out Vincent's pics, get off your couch, hop on your bike get down to the bridge for what has been called by "some" as "the best bike party of the week." That might very well be true... but you'll have to some down decide for yourself: http://www.vuvox.com/my_vox/017d8f695a#presentation=016c23e568

For all of you new riders, here is how we ride. We obey traffic laws as best we can. We stay to the right, take up one lane, let cars pass and stop at red lights. Sure it seems stupid to wait at a light in downtown when there are no cars coming, but think of this as time to socialize with your fellow cyclists, or break into an impromptu dance party until the light changes to green. Also, LISTEN TO YOUR GROUP'S LEADER. They are not trying to be jerks when letting everyone know what is up. They are looking out for your SAFETY. If you have a problem with that, please come let me know or email me. I welcome any comments or criticisms.

Social Cycling ATX is looking for some help. If you are interest in leading a group, planning routes, are a graphic designer, a bike mechanic or just want to lend a hand in general, please email me at helpout@socialcyclingatx.com.

If you have any suggestions on where to take the ride, or you are a dj or band that would like to play for 300 friendly and sweaty cyclists. Or if you just want to comment (good or bad) please email me at yo@socialcyclingatx.com.

We are still taking submission for a Thursday Night Social Ride t-shirt design. Send them to yo@socialcyclingatx.com. I am looking for a single-color design that contains both "Social Cycling ATX" and "Thursday Night Social Ride". The shirts the winning design will be printed on a white shirt, so keep that in mind. The winner will be announced in November (date to be decided soon) and will receive a nice package of cycling stuff (still working out details... coming soon, but it will kick ass.) We have has some really cool submissions so far, so keep them coming.

See ya'll at the bridge! RAIN OR SHINE!

Two free beer stops, food, planned activities, and the most courteous (big) group ride in town. What's not to love about this shit?

Oh yeah, for all you "hipster girls" who come on the ride, someone is admiring you...

and not in a good hipster girl way

bike nerd fo' life, yo

That slip-n-slide is going to be epic.
