Keith just posted the latest Social Cycling ATX experience, the David Byrne Ride. As usual, the ride meets on the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge, this time around at 4pm. Here are all the details if you want to get in on this before going to the panel discussion:

UPDATE: Creekside Lounge will be hosting an afterparty for the event. They are giving us $2.00 Lonestars and PBR and $3.00 wells.

UPDATE: we will most likely ride for just a bit first then go check out what the line looks like at the Paramount. if it looks long, we will hop in line to make sure we get in, then go for a nice long cruise afterwards.

Hey there, Social Cyclist. We're going to have a very special ride this Sunday.

David Byrne is coming to town to speak about his new book, Bicycle Diaries, at the Paramount Theater this Sunday. David Byrne has been an avid bicycling commuter (as much as a world traveling rockstar can be) for a number of years and has written a book about becoming less dependent on fossil fuels as transportation and getting off of your couch and getting on your bike. This is going to be a really cool event with a number of local cycling advocates speaking as well.

Social Cycling ATX was asked to create a slide show for the event that will play before Mr. Bryne comes out to talk about his book. Our friend Jorge Sanhueza-Lyon, who put together the killer Austin-American Statesman video collage of the Social Ride, has created a slide show with his photos, as well as those of riders Daniel Liebowitz and Vince Lawrence. It will be playing on the big screen of the beautiful Paramount Theater.

Here are the details:

We will meet on the Pfluger Pedestrian bridge at 4pm this Sunday. We'll ride around town for a while, maybe stopping for refreshments along the way. Then we will head over to the Paramount Theater for the event. Doors are at 6, but we will be getting there a bit early to assure that we can all sit together. We will probably do a ride by the theater around 5 to see what the line situation is like. If we don't get enough riding in before the event, we'll take a ride afterwards.

This is a free event. The only money you will need is for refreshments. Be sure and bring your lock and some water to keep hydrated.

This is going to be a great talk about a subject that is near and dear to all of our hearts- CYCLING!!!

Come on out and enjoy a ride, represent Social Cycling ATX and even learn a few things.

See ya'll at the bridge!

I'll try to bring a stereo and a bunch of Talking Heads if I make it to the ride. There's valet parking provided by Bicycle Sport Shop at The Paramount, so you should be good when you get down there. Bring a weird bike and show David how we do in the ATX!
