ACA looking for volunteers for this year's Wurst Ride

The ACA folks have recently been given the opportunity to take over the production of the annual Wurst Ride, a fund-raising ride from Austin to New Braunfels which cumulates with beer and sausages for everyone! Not that most of these bike events aren't enough of a sausage fest as it is, but the point is that they're looking to trial run it this year by organizing the volunteers for the ride. If you're interested in helping out a great organization on an equally swell ride, read on for the details:

This fall, the Austin 5 Foundation, our friends who organize the fabulous Wurst Ride, approached ACA to become potentially the future producer of the Wurst Ride.

Potential proceeds from this event would greatly increase the ACA’s resources to outreach to Central Texas with our education, recreation and advocacy activities. In other words, we could do even more great thinks for cyclists in the area.

Before we committed completely, ACA agreed to have our volunteers “intern” with the Wurst Ride Committee Chairs for this year’s ride. These ACA Interns would shadow their assigned Committee Chairs to learn how the Wurst Ride happens each year.

These ACA Interns would subsequently share their “expertise” with ACA if we decide to take on the production of this great event.

We need Volunteers NOW to work with the following committees:

1. SAG – organizing the volunteer drivers. Champion Toyota has donated trucks for SAG vehicles in the past.
2. Public Relations & Marketing
3. Start line (Austin and Martindale start lines) registration, packet pick up, transportation logistics
4. Rest Stops – materials and distribution to rest stops on the route
5. Finish Line – the party at the Comal Co. Fairgrounds and transportation back to Austin)

Why would you do this?

* To help sustain and build the ACA – we need funding to keep our education programs going.
* To add to your resume (we can learn a lot from this powerhouse group of women).
* To have fun with friends and family.

So don’t delay… Reply to me by email to sign up for Your Internship!
