New (and old) words about bikes in the ATX
In case you haven't seen them yet, there are a few new-but-old fixed gear blogs that have just recently opened up (and made themselves known to me):
http://austintxfixed.blogspot.com/
You may remember the old old ATXFixed Blog that several locals were running until it got swallowed up by the larger (but much more dormant) Third Coast Fixed blog. As there isn't much action on the new combined blog, the locals have decided to give it another go, once again under the ATXFixed moniker (but notice the new URL). They've already got a highschool alleycat (as in only highschoolers are allowed to race) planned for the middle of next month. Should be interesting to see what else they come up with.
Andrew (Dancakes) of the old ATXFixed Blog also decided to forge out on his own and start up a new blog which he's calling TXFixed. He's been posting for about a week now, and has some great coverage of last Sunday's Hair Metal Alleycat. If you like what Andrew's written in the past, expect more of the same madness on his new blog. He says that the scope of what he's writing is bigger than the old ATXFixed thing, so I expect stores of travel to other races, more regional/national alleycat coverage, and lots of good pictures.
Hopefully these cats actually keep it up and don't let the blogs die after a bit of initial effort. These days there's so much going on that it's impossible to be at everything, so I love reading what other people have to say about the shit I miss.
