The 2009 Texas Custom Bicycle Show is freaking NIGH!!!
I'm done with work, the lasagna is in the oven, and now I can finally sit down and chill for a minute to write a few words regarding an event I'm REALLY excited about. Namely, the fact that the 2009 Texas Custom Bicycle Show is only TWO DAYS AWAY! According to the email I received the other day the list of builders who'll be showing include Alchemy Bicycle Company, Bilenky Cycle Works, Crumpton Cycles, Daltex Handmade Bicycles, Dominion Bicycle Company, Gallus Cycles, Kirklee, Massengill Cycles, Southwest Frameworks, True Fabrication, Violet Crown Cycles, and Willits Brand Bicycles. Holy shit, talk about a who's who of Texas (AND foreign) builders! Not only do you get to see the some of the nicest locally hand-made frames around (there were several out at Tour de Fat that were CHOICE!), but if you're hard up for cash and really worried about the price of entrance, allay your fears my friends, because this 3-day show is 100% FREE! As in beer, not speech. Getting in will not cost you one red cent, so save those ducats for buying the frame builders beers, and maybe even putting a down-payment on the nicest bike you'll ever own?
Seriously, this show is gonna be awesome. Glenn Thompson, founder and organizer of the show (and the main man behind Daltex Handmade Bicycles), has been keeping in touch with me about the show over the past few months, and every bit of news I hear just keeps getting better and better. Elliott from A2W has been running a show blog which has featured many of the builders who'll be there, as well as their one-of-a-kind works of art, and for all your social networking fanatics you can even friend the show on the facebooks.

If you're in the downtown area Friday or Saturday, swing by the Convention Center and check this show out. If you're not in the area, make the time and get there, because you're not going to get to see a similar collection of quality bicycles again for quite some time. Not only that, but the ability to meet the builders and inquire of their trade is priceless. On the final day (Sunday), the show is going to be out in Dripping Springs at the finish line of the LiveStrong Challenge. Show up early to cheer, then take the afternoon to check out the dopeness. What a great weekend! Thanks everyone involved, I can't wait.

Where my old guys at??

yeah, Noni. Maybe b/c they're not hand built? Do they get them built out of state? I thought Fireman's would be a natural fit...
That would be the reason. They assemble the bicycles in town, but the frames are fabricated overseas.
Is that a new development? Their website still says "100% USA Made 4130 Chromoly Framesets".
