Dropout Issue #1 release party @ Fast Folks
There's a brand new print 'zine about to show up in the shops around town that focuses SPECIFICALLY on the wild and wacky local bike culture, entitled "The Dropout". To herald its' arrival, the crew behind the 'zine is going to be throwing a release party at Fast Folks on the first of November:
Wondering what this is all about? Wonder no more, as are the words from their website about what the 'zine is gonna cover:
The Dropout is coming! It’s Austin’s new indie press zine focused exclusively on bicycle culture in Austin. It is our intention to create a zine that spotlights the people and the businesses that make the Austin bike culture thrive. We hope to use this publication to reinforce the current community.
Our content will include bike relevant news and events, spotlights on local bike shops and businesses, profiles on the people that drive the community, tips on who’s offering discounts for cyclists, and much much more.
The first issue comes out November 1st and will be available at book stores, café’s, bike shops, and many more locations for $5 an issue. Given the feedback we have already received, we are confident that The Dropout will become a popular publication within the Austin bike community.
Sound familiar? Can't wait to see it! The first issue features interviews and writeups with such folks as local bicycle fashion designer Russell Stinnett, the Fast Folks Cyclery people, and I believe some coverage on one of the better-known local blogs, Austin on Two Wheels.
