Police officer on bicycle struck by hit-and-run motorist over the weekend

Sara sent me a link to this one earlier today via email. Sounds like running into bike cops is becoming a habit in Austin, what the fuck is up with this? Mistric gets hit about a month and a half back, and now KXAN is reporting that another officer was struck by a drunk driver last Friday, who fled the scene, was chased by officers in motorized vehicles, and was finally apprehended in Buda after ditching his truck and hiding from the cops. His excuse? He was "pretty drunk". Watch out officers, even though you're the visible representation of the law that doesn't protect you from the bumper of an F-150. I guess that's one thing we have in common. They didn't mention the name or condition of the officer who was hit, but it didn't sound too terribly bad. Hope you're ok dude!

Update: Looks like The Blotter mentioned this incident yesterday, also stating that the driver had accidentally fired off a .32 pistol on 7th Street before his altercation with the cops. Nice.
