Social Cycling ATX presents: Thursday Night Social Ride - Ride, socialize, help a fellow cyclist out!

Tonights social ride meets at the Scoot at 7pm as has been the tradition lately, but this time around we're ending somewhere different. Want the details? Read the following message from Keith, ripped off directly from his Facebook event posting:

Hey everybody! It's almost Thursday Night so let me tell you what is going down this week on the Social Ride. This week we have new sponsors and are having a little benefit.

WHEN AND WHERE: Thursday 7pm at The Scoot Inn, we leave around 8pm.

WHAT: We are taking a nice long cruise with a stop at a park to hang out for a bit then heading to the MOHAWK on Red River for one more benefit for local rocker/cyclist hit by a car, Ian Mcdougall. Lone Star will flow freely and Redbull and Titos vodka will be there with some cheap drinks. Don't forget to bring a few bucks to help with Ian's medical bills and to TIP YOUR BARTENDERS.

HOW: We follow the rules of traffic. Stay to the right, in one lane. Stop at all redlights. Listen to your ride leaders. They have your safety in mind and are some nice people.

BRING: A helmet is always a good idea, but I am leaving that up to you. You ride at your own risk on the Social Ride. Lights, Lock and an ID if you plan on getting into the bars are necessities.

It has been cold lately, but that hasn't scared off the masses. Bundle up and come out and ride with us!

SPECIAL NOTE: Bike Texas needs volunteers on Thursday from 5-8pm before the Social Ride. The offices are located really close to The Scoot Inn and we will not leave until all of the volunteers have arrived. They need help assembling mail packages benefiting bicycle/motorist safety education programs and Safe Routes to School. They need to be mailed to government offices all over Texas and they need help! There will also be data entry of petition signatures. It is my understanding there will be free food and BEER for all volunteers. So go grab dinner and a couple of beers before the Social Ride and help a great organization do good work.

Even with the gnarly weather of late we've still seen 200-300 regular riders on these rides, so don't slack, socialize!
