Austin Cycling Association Meeting tonight's gonna be something special.
Hey y'all, tonight is the Austin Cycling Association's first meeting of the year, and they have something rather interesting sounding planned: A "state of Austin bike culture" address by none other than Elliott McFadden, editor of Austin on Two Wheels (A2W). In case you've been living under a rock that doesn't have internet access, A2W is the local bike blog that doesn't swear, hate OR host pornography. It's good stuff if you haven't read it, and I can't think of a better person to giving the Austin Cycling Association crowd the skinny on things.
Here are the location details if you're interested in attending (meeting is open to ALL):
Austin Cycling Association January Meeting
Monday, January 4
6:30 food and drink, 7 PM meeting
Max’s Wine Dive, 207 San Jacinto Blvd
I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it out but I really want to, as it should be interesting to hear how our local culture is developing. From the sound of things the ACA is trying to re-vamp their image with a new website and more topical, concise monthly meetings, so drop in and check out the brand new grand old Austin Cycling Association! Basically if you want to ride around Austin without hearing "fuck" and "shit" every five seconds, breaking traffic laws, listening to metal music, or getting drunk, these are the people to do it with. Good times, right?
Update: Look what the ACA peeps just announced on their Facebook page:
Feeling Lucky??? We will be giving away a $100 gift certificate to Bicycle Sport Shop at the meeting tonight. Come on out at 6:30 to Max's Wine Dive, 207 San Jacinto. Our speaker will be Elliot McFadden, editor of Austin on Two Wheels. Hope to see you there!
Nice!
