KVUE story on Mariel Mentink, and the search widens thanks to Social Cycling

Last night KVUE ran a story about Mariel Mentink's collision and hospitalization:

They're still on the look-out for a gray SUV or pickup truck with some SERIOUS human-inflicted damage. The report from the other cyclist involved sounds brutal, and the fact that the driver didn't even slow down to check what they'd hit boggles my mind. Mariel's family is still running a journal documenting her progress, so check back regularly to see the latest status updates.

As to the Social Cycling ATX angle mentioned in the title, MAriel was hit while riding home from the Social Cycling New Year's Eve event, and we look out for our own. To that end Keith has posted an ongoing event to Facebook with all the details of the collision, description of the perps, and links to all the related stories. EVERYONE please keep an eye out for the damaged gray SUV/truck, and if you see something you need to call the cops (472-TIPS or 911) ASAP!

One thing mentioned last night was that it's possible for the police to contact local insurance companies with a description, to see if anyone calls their adjustor to get some mysterious damage repaired on a gray truck like object. Anyone know how to get the ball rolling on that if it isn't already? Sounded like a damn good idea to me.
