ONE WEEK AWAY: Critical Mass AND the Full Moon Cruise
Bigger post about the madness when I feel like it, but for now know that next Friday is a big motherfucking day. Not only do we have Critical Mass happening at 5pm, but when 11:59pm rolls around we've got a Full Moon Cruise following it. That's right folks, due to the variation between the lunar calendar and the Gregorian, the one has lapped the other and this month they happen on the same day. Brace yourselves.
So, the full moons happen at these dates and times (central time -- I converted) this year --
Sat January 30, 00:18
Sun February 28, 10:38
Mon March 29, 21:25
Wed April 28, 07:18
Thu May 27, 18:07
Sat June 26, 06:30
Sun July 25, 20:37
Tue August 24, 12:05
Thu September 23, 04:17
Sat October 23, 20:36
Sun November 21, 12:27
Tue December 21, 03:13
Considering that we want to maximize moonlight (pick the ride day that gives the fullest moon at about 2am? This would mean if the full moon is before 2pm local time, the full moon ride is the day before.) and favor weekend rides if there's a close tie between two days (the former goal sounds good, the latter is debatable) I propose these ride dates --
Fri Jan 29th 11:59pm (after Critical Mass)
Sat Feb 27th 11:59pm
Mon March 29 11:59pm
Tue April 27 11:59pm
Thu May 27 11:59pm
Fri June 25 11:59pm (after Critical Mass)
Sun July 25 11:59pm
Mon August 23 11:59pm
CANCELLED: Wed September 22 11:59pm
HARVEST MOON: Sun September 26 02:00am I think
Sat October 23 11:59pm
Sat November 20 11:59pm
Mon December 20 11:59pm
The Sun July 25th full moon missed the cutoff for happening on Saturday night by only 8.5 hours. If we wanted to fudge a ride to catch a weekend, that would be the ride. Considering that a lot of the rides already end up on weekends (six, including the Harvest moon) I'm not so sure any fudging is required.
Fuckin' A, man...
