Got a problem? Call the city!
There's been a good bit of discussion amongst the various forums and mailing lists on all the construction going on about town and the resulting road debris, gravel, torn up pavement and other hazards to safe and efficient cycling around town. Alongside the complaining there've been calls to dial 311 and report the issue rather than just bitching about it on a website or email thread. Well it sounds like several people have taken the advice to heart and called on 311 to address their issue, and the first report of success has already been posted:
I wanted to report back to the group, and give a shout out to the Street Maintenance [?] crews--after putting in a 311 ticket to clean the seal coat chips in the bike lanes all along E. 12th St, they took care of the problem right away, and it is 1000% better.
My ride to work this morning was smooth and safe; no more treacherous crunch under my wheels.

I've gotten similar requests for calls from the city staff themselves, saying that the CoA's Street Maintenance crew is just waiting for complaints so that they can do their jobs and get to fixing problems. Debris in the curb gutter? That's a problem, call 311. Construction traffic parking in the no parking bike lane? Give 'em a ring. Pothole on your daily commute give you cause for concern? Who you gonna call: 311! The City is actually responding to these calls, so if you want to make your neighborhood a little more bikeable for you and everyone else that cruises through, for the love of all that is holy CALL 311 ALREADY!
