City and neighborhood sit down with BMXers over Red Box.
Leslie Luciano forwarded me this notice that's been posted out at Red Box, plus a few words of her own regarding the issues they've been facing out there:
I’ve been working with the Bouldin Creek Neighborhood Association over the last year. We have a lot of our BMX guys that have been quietly nurturing RedBox which sits on the Bouldin Creek Greenbelt. Initially, the neighbors tried to oust them, perceiving them as enemy. After several meetings, and a study by the WildFlower Center, and PARD, they are working harmoniously to improve the area and maintain not only the greenbelt, but Red Box as well. Please pass this on. There is a possibility of grant funding from PARD for some of the Red Box “dreams”, and the more support present the better.
Thanks for fighting for this Leslie. If you're a concerned party, or if you just want to support Austin's incredibly active and vibrant BMX culture, show up to this meeting and be heard.
