Cyclist Killed Saturday on US 290
I just read the following Statesman story, which is being released tomorrow:

Last Saturday morning a cyclist named Michael Argall was killed on eastbound 290. The lady who struck him said the sun was blinding her and that she didn't see him. No one was charged in the incident. Michael taught cycling classes and placed competitively in several events himself. My heart goes out to his girlfriend, children, and all his friends and family. What a senseless tragedy. If you drive a car regularly, PLEASE PAY ATTENTION. You might kill someones father.
P.S. if anyone wants to leave Mike's family any encouragement or condolences this would be a better place for it than the Statesman comment field, which has been taken over by anti-bike psychopaths:

i'm still alive and my bike is still rideable, but i did get hit by a truck yesterday morning. sucksss.
I got clipped twice for bike month, but neither of them were very serious. Glad to hear your bike is still rolling and you're good. Get rashed up any?
And again, the cyclist love flows freely in the comments...
That's to be expected in a Statesman article. It's sad but definitely reflects the opinions of the majority of people we encounter on the road that see us as nothing but a nuisance and an impediment to their car's God-given right to be exceeding the speed limit on the street.
And he was a police officer.
