Pictures!
I've been slacking with posting links to pics of the recent events, but there's a good bit of shit out there from the past month of biking insanity.
Here's a slideshow I saw over on Vince's tumblr from the Denim Ride a couple weeks back:
DougMC is a fucking machine, posting hundreds of pictures from the Neon Ride, the last couple TNSRs, a Hump Day Nooner ride, a cruise to the cathedral of junk, and even the big SXSW Bike Hugger Mobile Social. Damn Doug, way to represent! Here's a link to ALL his galleries if you want to see the past few years of bike events in picture form.
Want to see some pics of a non-biking event that includes a lot of recognizable faces (including yours truly)? Check out James' shots of the Idiotarod in his flickr gallery and laugh at the insanity we endured. Now THAT was a good fucking time.
I know I've seen more pics out there but I don't remember where. Are you a photographer who shoots the bike scene? Let me know, I want to link to your shit!
I'll be there if it happens! :)
It's great to see that somebody did a cathedral of junk cruise.
The maker estimates there's over 800 old bike frames in the structure.
Check out the Cathedral of Junk while you can, city code enforcement is threatening finally close the thing down and bulldoze it.
It was quite a sight seeing bikes built into the structure. Gorgeous. We should plan another ride soon.
I've got a flyer ready to go. I was planning a ride months ago but it never happened. Wanted to throw a proper party and rent the joint out but I'm still at the end of a long list of people wanting to do the same thing.
Proabably would be better to just to show up since bikes don't cause parking issues, which is the neighborhood's biggest concern.
www.savethejunk.org is a website that started yesterday and they're looking for volunteers to help make the structural modifcations necessary to keep the thing open.
