Social Cycling ATX presents: Thursday Night Social Ride - The LAST week at Metz!
Hey there ladies and gents of the biker persuasion, it's Thursday and by now you know what that means. Social Ride time! Or Anti-social Ride time if you're clued into that bidness. Anyway, if you're going on the social ride here's what you need to know to make the best of your experience:
Hey Everybody! It's almost Thursday Night, so it's just about time to get on your bikes and ride again. This week the Thursday Night Social Ride falls on Earth Day. So let's do our part by riding our bikes, drinking some beers and having a little fun.
WHERE AND WHEN: We are meeting for the LAST TIME at Metz Park (http://tinyurl.com/27jlrso) at 7:30. We leave at 8 SHARP-ish. NEXT WEEK, we will try a new meeting place at Fiesta Gardens (http://tinyurl.com/29wpnqb), under the I-35 Town Lake Bridge on the North side of the river. It's going to be a better place, that is more centrally located and right by the water.
WHAT: As usual, we will take a nice ride around town, stop, hang out and ride some more. When we are done, we will be heading to The Creekside Lounge (http://thecreeksidelounge.com/) for some free beer, DJ's and a dance party. The fine folks at The Creekside Lounge are allowing parking on the back patio, space permitting. Thanks Creekside!
HOW: Social Cycling ATX rides AS traffic, not AGAINST it. We stop and red lights and stay in one lane. We let cars pass as best we can and are nice to both our fellow riders all other traffic. Listen to your ride leaders. They have your safety and best interest in mind.
WHAT YOU NEED: LIGHTS (please, it's common sense), a lock and TIP money for those hard working bartenders giving you that free beer. A helmet is always a good idea, but I will leave that up to you. You are responsible for your safety of all Social Cycling ATX rides.
For those of you who are still reading... a reminder. This is the last week we meet at Metz Park. NEXT WEEK we are starting to meet at Fiesta Gardens (http://tinyurl.com/29wpnqb), under or near the I-35 Town Lake Bridge on the North side.
See everyone this week at Metz Park!

You read it right folks, we're abandoning Metz Park in favor of the I-35 overpasses at Fiesta Gardens. It's closer to central, doesn't smell of sewage (maybe a little bum piss), and gives us many more options for directions to travel once we leave the area. I think this is a win-win all around, especially since it means I won't have to lug my shit all the way over to Metz every freaking week just to meet up with the crew. Party ends at Creekside, so be sure to call all your non-biking friends so they can pack the bar and crowd up the place before we even get there. Just kidding.
