Social Cycling ATX presents: Another GREAT advertising opportunity!
Hey y'all, just got the word from the CEO of the business organization that the Social Cycling ATX Facebook Group is open to ALL advertisements from any non-, for-, anti-, whatever profit businesses, individuals, or really anyone at all, as long as it peripherally pertains to bicycling.
Just wanted to make sure EVERYONE looking to make a buck off of us knows about this opportunity to spam reach an audience of NEARLY three thousand local cyclists. From the sound of things ideally this page will become a prolific resource of places trying to get our monies, so much so that the free rides will just fade into the background of the advertising bonanza.
Want to sell shit? Here's the spot. Thanks for the outlet Keith and Company! Time to make that skrilla...
Seems that it is time time to start a new FB profile (not a site) for OUR cycling meet ups.
Oh look it already exists: ATXBS.COM aka ATXBSCOM on FB. Friend it and unfriend the spammers'. Now wasn't that simple?
can I go back to running lights and other non-commi activities on thursdays??
What's the big fuckin deal? Until everyone quits their jobs you have no roo
to speak. It's capitalism, and we are all a part. isn't the important thing that more people are their bikes? It's not some exclusive frat. Unity
Social cycling is becoming the wal mart of bike rides.
Alleybank race. Participants must visit branches of financial institutions and make deposits into accounts (mine). Keep all receipts. Time bonus for most dollars deposited (over $10 minimum).
Finally a race for the masses!
This may be the better venue to express how much you fucking rock. What happened to just riding our fucking bikes and kicking ass?
when we started doing benefits, promoting local cycling businesses, performing community outreach and becoming a player in local bicycle advocacy?
As of next week, we will have 5 FREE cycling events a week... that's organized rides for ALL different types of riders... that's way more "just riding bikes" than in the past.
If you don't promote local cycling events, charities or businesses then in essence, you are doing more to support Walmart than the local cycling scene.
By allowing anyone to post on our site about their bike news, I would think that would appeal to all of our critics' grassroots ethos, and not illicit a "walmart" remarks. That makes no sense at all.
So it's like I said, our group will support ANYONE'S ride, business, group or charity as long as it pertains to biking in Austin, TX.
As far as I'm concerned that "kicks ass" way more than if we remain some insular group that does nothing but talk about itself.
We are a growing organization, not shrinking.
Change? Sure. Sell out? Hardly.
We do welcome all information that pertains to the local cycling community. We are proud of getting out all of the information that might be beneficial to our cyclists.
And if you do have a free ride to "advertise" on our site other than the 5 weekly free rides that we offer, feel free to contact me personally so that I can give it a prominent place on our page.
If your message to our members doesn't pertain to cycling or offer our cyclists a special though... it will be deleted.

I for one think this is absolutely great. Anything that helps to get more people on bikes I'm for. Certainly, I tend to view growth with a weary eye, but come on...
I had my mom nearly talked into going on a free social ride, but she's in her 50s and a little to "mom" for that kind of a crowd (and this is a badass lady who biked across the USA in the day). She still likes to bike and, I think, could use a less rowdy bike scene. She also has money to spend and likes to support things that are local and bike related. So why not advertise this to her? Seems like a win win to me. My mom can make some friends, bike around, see some new shit and the bike economy grows.
I patronize local bikes shops because they earn my trust and make me want to pay a little extra for my bike parts so in that someone can have a good/fun job in my community. I think social cycling has done more than enough to earn my trust. I'm constantly daydreaming of ways my hobbies could fund my "party" lifestyle, cheers to anyone with that kind of wherewithal.
