City of Austin and everybody else on the planet presents: FIRST Annual Bike Month Closing Ceremony! FREE awesomeness!
THIS Sunday from 2-8pm out at the Zilker Rock Garden (near the theater), pretty much every bicycle shop, business and organization in town is hosting the FIRST Annual Bike Month Closing Celebration! I'll let them advertise their event to you because they know how to do it right, but let me start you off with four magic words: FREE BEER FREE FOOD! Ok go...
For the first time in Austin history, the entire bicycle community combine their resources to celebrate our favorite pastime in this great city! Come support local vendors, bike shops, frame builders, non-profits, social clubs, and all other bike related businesses as we commemorate the close of Bike Month with free beer, food, music, games and more.
There will be mountain bike demonstrations and a course for folks to ride on, BMX and fixie tricks, roller races, commemorative t-shirts and fun for every kind of cyclist. Come support your favorite groups, and learn more about all of the others. All proceeds from the t-shirts will go to Yellow Bike Project, League of Bicycling Voters, Austin Cycling Association, Please Be Kind to Cyclists, and BikeTexas.
This is also the closing ceremony for the Commuter Challenge, so if you want some love on stage, you had better sign up and start logging your commuting miles! http://www.austincommuterchallenge.com/
This event is free for everyone, ride your bike! Bike parking and mechanical support will be available on site.
It’s gonna be AWESOME!

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn! Talk about a roster of who's who's! Lots of freebies, presentations from various cycling entities, live tunes (I <3 Austin), crazy stunting on 20" and 700c bicicletas, and they've even got T-Shirts so if you get too hammered to recall the occasion, you can still rep the moment.
Thanks City and crew, y'all are badass. Here's to another many many years of bicycling in Austin, Texas, and around the world. And by "around the world" I'm talking about Max and Speyers. Have fun representing the ATX in the DE.
