Meet the Bike Snob at Mellow Johnny's!
Ok folks, so I posted this too late to get in on the ride this morning, but tonight the fine folks down at Mellow Johnny's are hosting the one, the only Bike Snob! The best bike blogger on the internets just released a book which he'll be signing, but look what else is going on tonight:
Bike Snob NYC — cycling's most prolific, well-known, hilarious, blogger— is coming to Mellow Johnny's Wednesday, June 16th on a 6-city tour for his first book, "Bike Snob NYC: Systematically & Mercilessly Realigning the World of Cycling". We are honored to have Eben Weiss here in Austin and will be rolling out the red carpet for him while he is here.
10:30am - join us for a 1-hour urban ride open to all, with the mysterious Eben Weiss himself.
6pm - Come back in the evening for a talk with Eben, a book signing, and then at 7pm stay for drinks, music, and a Cycling Stereotype Pageant.
How the Pageant works -
Dress up as a cycling stereotype (see his book or blog for ideas and "categories"). Go all out. This can include clothing, shoes, helmets, bikes, accessories.
The Bike Snob will judge the best dressed/most cliche and over-the-top cyclist in each category.Categories include: The Roadie, the Mountain Biker, the Cyclocrosser, the Triathlete, the Urban Cyclist, the Messenger, the Beautiful Godzilla, the Retro-Grouch, the Righteous Cyclist, the Lone Wolf and the Contraption Captain.
So basically, everybody just dress like you ALWAYS do and I'm sure some good friends will take home prizes. Badass.
