Update: The deceased cyclist has been identified, and more light has been shed on the collision.

A bicyclist was killed Tuesday night in East Austin when police say he was struck by a Dodge Caravan.

The Austin Police Department said Charlie Pink, 62, was traveling southbound on the 8800 block of Cameron Road, and tried to turn left onto a side street. Officers say he failed to yield, and was hit by the northbound Caravan.

Pink was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pink was wearing a helmet, and police say that alcohol or speed were not factors of the crash. The light's on Pink's bicycle were not functioning. No charges are anticipated against the driver, who was not injured.

Ride in peace, Mr. Pink.

A cyclist died Tuesday night after being struck by an automobile in North Austin.

The incident happened at Cameron Road and Ferguson Lane, just south of where Rundberg Lane dead-ends at Cameron Road.

Police believed the victim was a man, but were unable to provide any other details.

According to officials, another wreck between another cyclist and an automobile occurred earlier in the evening in northwest Austin.

The person injured in that collision was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge for treatment.

Be careful out there y'all. Are the victims of these collisions anyone we know? If so, drop me a note so I can stop wondering. Damn. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these two cyclists. Wonder if the drivers were cited for anything.

According to the blotter, no charges are expected to be filed for the Cameron Rd death.

The article says the bike turned left in front of the van, failing to yield the right of way.
