I usually restrict this website to local happenings but I've gotten more email over this video than I've gotten over anything else, ever. This is what happens when we put too much power in the hands of our "public servants":

Though I typically don't reference them as a reliable source, I think Faux News got it right when they named this story 'NYPD-amn!' According to Faux:

(Christopher) Long was arrested and charged with attempted assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. The criminal complaint against him claims he deliberately steered his bicycle into the officer, causing both of them to fall to the ground.

According to The Gothamist rookie officer (and promising lineman) Patrick Pogan has been stripped of his gun and badge, pending an investigation. I'm glad to hear that they're disarming such an obviously violent person, and hope they don't give him his weapon back. If he does that with his shoulder imagine what he'd do if let off his leash with a gun in hand!
